On Voting

Obviously, there's a US election that is at least 7 or 8 times bigger than the Australian election (I reckon), even for me out here in Australia. I know I can't influence the vote, nor am I informed enough even to want to, but it is interesting what sort of issues and values come out of the campaigns of George W. Bush and John Kerry.

Brian has had many interesting posts on voting and the issues behind the election (as has GetReligion). I guess it is a little more serious over there, as Brian asks and examines "How Would Jesus Vote". I don't think Brian came up with the almost cheesy images, but the question of the title still remains and I guess is applicable to the Aussie election coming up soon.

Have you checked out http://www.evangelicalalliance.org.au/election/default.htm ?

It aims to shed a little light on the whole voting thing for us Aussies.

WWJV? The new catch cry of the 21st century? Or just another catchy slogan? Maybe we need to see what Jesus would vote for-

Vote Yes- 1 child policy, China's shameless attempts at plagerising the big guy do little to tarnish the famed "only begotten son" policy.

Vote No- American Idol, Australian Idol, and another idol- "there shall be no gods before me..."

Vote Yes- Cats.

Vote No- Dogs - just because cats are smarter.

Vote No- Capital punishment- hey, it got him killed!

Vote Yes- Corporal Punishment- "Spare the rod and spoil the child" is surely in the bible... somewhere.

Vote No- Dance, apparently leads to sex, or should that be

Vote No- Sex, apparently leads to dancing

Vote Yes- Punk- Jesus was the biggest anti-establishment guy- the original punk, bucking the system, and then raising from the dead, all without giving a single birdie!

Vote Yes- Tom's Blogspot -I'll vote for that!

And I'm out like Georgy W.
